ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – The Winthrop University Board of Trustees approved emeritus status for five retiring faculty members at its June 27 board meeting. Also announced and approved by the board were tenure and promotion decisions.
The five emeriti faculty members have contributed a combined total of 146 years of dedicated service, according to Provost Sebastian van Delden. They are: Dwight Dimaculangan, professor of biology; Pat Owens, professor of chemistry; Dave Pretty, associate professor of history; Keith Robbins, professor of management; and Julian Smith III, professor of biology.
Members granted tenure are: in the College of Arts and Sciences, Scott Amundsen, professional studies; Salvatore Blair, biology; Otha Jennifer Dixon-McKnight, history; Hope Lima, human nutrition; Kiyoshi Sasaki, biology; and Brent Woodfill, anthropology; College of Education, Sport and Human Sciences, Jeremy Lopuch, education research; and Miranda Sigmon, literacy; College of Business Administration, Nicholas Moellman and Edward Charles Randle Sr., both accounting; and in the College of Visual & Performing Arts, Claudia O’Steen, fine arts, and Kelly Ozust, dance.
Faculty members promoted from associate professor to professor are: in the College of Arts and Sciences, Zachary Abernathy, math; Fatima Amir, physics; Monique Constance-Huggins, social work; Nathaniel Frederick II, mass communication; Christian Grattan, chemistry; College of Education, Sport and Human Sciences, Bettie Parsons Barger, elementary education and literacy; David Schary, physical education, sport and human performance; and David Vawter, middle level education.
Promoted to the rank of associate professor from assistant professor are: Otha Jennifer Dixon-McKnight, history; Sara English, social work; Hope Lima, human nutrition; Kiyoshi Sasaki, biology; and Daniel Stovall, biology; in the College of Business Administration, Nicholas Moellman, accounting, and Edward Charles Randle Sr., accounting; College of Education, Sport and Human Sciences, Jeremy Lopuch, education research; and Miranda Sigmon, literacy; and College of Visual & Performing Arts, Kyle Sweeney, fine arts.
