Bachelor of Science

The B.S. in Elementary Education leads to certification in grades 2 through 6. Housed within the the Curriculum and Pedagogy Department, the program mission is focused on personalized and challenging educational experiences designed to meet the needs of students who will become teachers in a complex and rapidly changing society. Students can choose expand certification to include grades pre-K to 1 with an additional certification test. Teacher candidates pursuing a degree in elementary education take classes from engaging professors and complete meaningful field experiences in local schools beginning the first year. Winthrop elementary education faculty seek to develop educators with a commitment to leadership, stewardship, collaboration and innovation. Winthrop elementary education majors are eagerly hired into successful teaching careers in today's school.
