Dr. Brownson is a professor of English. Her teaching interests include literary theory, British Romantic literature, Victorian literature, 20th-century British literature, and the contemporary British novel. Her research interests include Victorian periodicals, ethical theory, and British Romantic poets. She is currently working on a monograph about Thomas Hardy's short stories and Victorian periodicals. Brownson also serves on the Executive Board of South Carolina Women in Higher Education as its secretary and as the membership chair of the College English Association.
