Professor Hope completed her undergraduate degree in 1994 and taught high school mathematics in Georgia. After five years of teaching, she decided to stay home with her twins and also to pursue a graduate degree. While working on her graduate degree, she became involved with the LEAP program here at Winthrop. After graduating from Winthrop in 2004, she went back to teaching in a local middle school retaining her ties to Winthrop through the LEAP program. After three and a half years, she decided again to stay home with a baby and began homeschooling her elementary-aged twins. In 2009, she also began teaching at Winthrop on a part-time basis. Having now had experience teaching math at every grade level, she enjoys helping train future teachers to be well prepared to teach mathematics themselves.
Hope and her husband, who also is a teacher in a local high school, and her family live in York County and love being a part of this thriving community. They enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. They also enjoy fun educational activities such as visiting museums and traveling to new places.
