HDFS Student Ambassador Program
In the College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences at Winthrop University, we
believe active student involvement is directly related to high quality programs. One
way to be actively engaged in the HDFS program is to serve as an HDFS Student Ambassador.
An ambassador is defined as "a person who acts as a representative or promoter of
a specified activity". The HDFS program was developed to increase opportunities for
student engagement, service, leadership, retention, and academic excellence, we are
seeking individuals to serve as Student Ambassadors for the program. If you are interested
in serving as an HDFS Student Ambassador, please contact Dr. Powell.
Ambassador Responsibilities
Ambassadors...
- are expected to promote and represent the HDFS program.
- will assist with the programming in a variety of ways and encourage student participation
in the organization.
- will attend ambassador training hosted by the College of Education, Sport, and Human
Sciences.
- will attend at least one university recruitment event per semester. These events include assisting with set
up and answering questions about the program. As the need arises, ambassadors will
be called upon to assist faculty with recruitment trips to high schools and other
programs.

- will add experiences with leadership, event planning, service, and peer relationships
to their resume.
- will get a unique and advantageous perspective of Winthrop's recruitment process.
- will have the opportunity to improve their confidence in public speaking and presentation
skills.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible students must...
- have sophomore standing and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
- be mature, outgoing, and well-respected students on campus.
- complete application and submit to Dr. Powell.
- be approved by the CLES department chair and faculty advisors in the HDFS program.
