Winthrop University offers an interdisciplinary Sport Management degree with an exciting program that will benefit students with an interest in the ever-growing business of sport. Students enrolled in the program pursue the Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management, preparing them for careers in the $410 billion sports industry. Students will complete a degree program that include courses in the business aspects of sport in intercollegiate and professional sports, sports analytics, sport law, facility management, event management, sport marketing, and sport finance.
Curriculum
Winthrop's sport management program is the only one of its kind in the Charlotte metropolitan region and one of only two in the state of South Carolina.
The sport management degree program at Winthrop University has received specialized accreditation through the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) located in Fort Collins, Colorado.

"With the sports industry being so competitive, it is important to graduate with the skills needed to be successful. The Sport Management program at Winthrop couples a great curriculum with knowledgeable faculty to prepare students for success. The time I spent at Winthrop gave me the learning experience I was looking for. Not only was I receiving a great education, I was also able to take advantage of getting involved with a Division I sports program. Also, with Winthrop's close proximity to Charlotte, the students have ample opportunities to gain valuable experience working in the industry while attending classes. The curriculum gives the students a great overview of the different paths they can pursue in the sports industry. Courses such as Sport Marketing, Sport Law, and Facilities/Event management truly prepared me for my career and opened my eyes to different areas of sport that I had never thought about. My time at Winthrop was invaluable and I recommend this program to anyone who is passionate about working in sports."
