These courses are appropriate for any professional working in schools or educational settings. They provide background into legislation and legal mandates required under IDEA, ADA, and section 504 as they apply to schools and educational settings; characteristics of each disability category as defined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA); and brief application ideas for accommodations, modifications and differentiated instruction.
These courses are the first two required courses for the learning disabilities “add on” certification for currently licensed teachers and also are required courses in the MAT in Special Education and M.Ed. in Special Education Intervention, but are also appropriate for school counselors, social workers, daycare workers, and school psychologists.
