WHEREAS, there is a demonstrated and growing need to assist licensed teachers in the
quest for certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards;
and
WHEREAS, there is a demonstrated and growing need to provide a graduate program option
for early childhood teachers and to continue to provide a graduate program designed
to enrich the content and pedagogical knowledge of licensed teachers; and
WHEREAS, the proposed program is structured to meet national standards of accreditation;
and
WHEREAS, the proposed program combines two existing graduate degree programs into
one, thus enabling the College of Education to manage its resources more effectively
and provide appropriate courses in a timely manner; and
WHEREAS, no new additional resources will be required for this program;
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees approves the Master of Education
Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
