Started in the 1980’s by our own Jim Rex, the Teacher Cadet Program provides an opportunity for high achieving, leadership bound high school students to explore the teaching profession. An important secondary goal of the program is to develop future community leaders who will become civic advocates for public education. Teacher Cadet is sponsored by the Center for Education Recruitment, Retention and Advancement (CERRA).
All Teacher Cadets through Winthrop University are encouraged to attend the fall and spring Teacher Cadet Days.
Winthrop University is proud to partner with the following districts and schools to offer the dual credit courses: Teacher Cadet—Experiencing Education (EDCO 175) and Teacher Cadet Educational Psychology (EDCO 185).
