Make a Gift to the History Department

The History Department at Winthrop University plays an essential role in ensuring that students from across campus, regardless of their area of study, get the “Winthrop experience.”  History alumni will recognize this.  Whether attending the numerous cultural events that the department organizes or sponsors or simply taking history classes, students get to participate in a vibrant Winthrop community, and in so doing they not only learn the skills needed to excel at future employment, but also how to be engaged citizens.

A number of programs are currently associated with the History Department including African American Studies, Social Studies Education, Individualized Studies, the Peace, Justice, and Conflict Resolution program, and Medieval Studies.  As many history alums will recall, the Alpha Tau chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, a national history honors society, is on Winthrop campus, and to this day student members are actively engaged with organizing events on campus and regularly participate in regional conferences.  Additionally, the department is working to fully endow a scholarship fund for Catawba Nation Studies.  Please consider making a one-time or recurring gift to the history department today.
