Dr. Soto is an assistant professor of psychology at Winthrop University. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The University of Akron and completed a year-long internship at a VA Medical Center in North Carolina, followed by a postdoctoral residency at UNC Wilmington’s Counseling Center. Her research interests include intersectionality, objectification, psychological, educational and vocational experiences of marginalized communities, and historical research. She has explored topics like Latinas' experiences with objectification, resilience in Middle Eastern and Arab migrants, and Latinx students’ challenges in higher education.
At Winthrop, she teaches General Psychology, Racial, Cultural, and Ethnic Influences on Identity Development, History and Systems of Psychology, and Personality Theories. She’s passionate about mentoring students and making psychology accessible to a wider audience. Outside of academia, she loves to travel, hike, and spend time with friends and family.
