You are a listener. You dream of leading choirs, conducting orchestras, teaching students, or composing your own works. Learn from a like-minded group of faculty who share your passion for music.
Winthrop’s Department of Music provides supportive mentorships to foster your development as a musician and to prepare you for a career in music.
We offer traditional, private weekly lessons to pre-college students. Lessons are taught by our talented team of instructors made up of University faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate music majors studying at Winthrop. All University faculty and graduate students hold degrees in their instrument, and have previous teaching experience. Our undergraduate student instructors are majors in the field in which they teach. These students are carefully selected by their professors to teach in the Academy program, and are supervised by the administration and faculty.
Each student, whether new, or returning must fill out and submit an Academy of Music Registration Form.
**Please note that there is a late fee of $25.00 for any late registration submitted. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the director via e-mail at academyofmusic@winthrop.edu.
