Prior to joining the College of Visual and Performing Arts, Fredericks was the associate director of advising for the Department of Psychology at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. In this role, she managed the academic advising and related services for more than 1,000 students. Her areas of interest include academic advising and career counseling. Prior to her work in higher education, Fredericks spent more than 10 years in public relations, serving as the regional director of communications and marketing for the American Cancer Society, Mid-South Division. Originally from Illinois, she holds a Master's degree in Counseling and Development with a concentration in School Counseling from Winthrop University and B.A. in psychology and communications from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.
