Originally from Tennessee, Mr. Thomas Garner now is living in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Painting from Clemson University. He has been teaching at Winthrop since the Fall 1995 in the Department of Art and Design (now working for Design in foundations). In 1999, he received the Phi Kappa Phi Excellence in Teaching Award, at Winthrop University.
Mr. Garner’s teaching responsibilities include Design Drawing, Design and Color, Design Fundamentals, and Introduction to Computer Imaging. His personal work focuses on the acknowledgment of violence and the figure. He works in oil, acrylic, monoprint, and mixed media.
