Daniel Gordon came to Winthrop in 2013, having previously served as department chair of theatre at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is active with the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) and the National Association of Schools of Theatre, currently serving on its board of directors.
His professional achievements include designing the lighting for LORT theatres, including Palm Beach Dramaworks and The Pacific Theatre Ensemble, earning a Dramalogue award for "best production" for the musical The Beggar's Opera. Daniel has worked with the Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival, and its annual Shakespeare by the Sea productions, which has provided free Shakespeare in the park for the last thirty + years. Through his involvement with this company, he has provided students the opportunity of their first professional experience, both on stage and off. Daniel has been able to indulge his love for dance by designing lighting for the Royal New Zealand Ballet, Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami, The International Ballet Festival of Miami, and The Harid Conservatory of Dance, and Winthrop Dance Theatre.
