ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Winthrop University volleyball player Atley Livingston ’22 is one of eight student-athletes who have been awarded the Big South Conference's prestigious George A. Christenberry Award for Academic Excellence.
The award is given to the male and female student-athlete who attain the highest GPA during their undergraduate collegiate careers. This marks the seventh consecutive year that at least eight student-athletes have been honored.
Livingston, of Conway, South Carolina, finished her Winthrop career with 15 digs, two aces, 22 matches played and 32 sets played. She also served as team captain.
Livingston graduated this past December with a degree in exercise science, where she was honored with the President’s Award for Academic Excellence. During her Winthrop career, she was on the executive board of both the Exercise Science Club and Phi Epsilon Kappa; an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA); and an academic peer tutor for athletics.
Post-graduation, she planned to take a semester off to travel, then start occupational therapy school in the upcoming academic year.

About the Christenberry Award
Big South member institutions nominate one male and one female undergraduate student-athlete for the annual Christenberry Award. The honor is named for George A. Christenberry, the former president of Augusta College (now Augusta University) and one of the founders of the Big South Conference. A member of the Big South Hall of Fame, Christenberry served as the league's first President from 1983-86.
