ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Comedian Dennis Miller will bring his insightful and intellectual rants to Winthrop University on Feb. 20 during a stop on his national tour.
Miller rose to fame as a smart-aleck “Weekend Update” anchor on “Saturday Night Live” from 1985-91. Since then, he’s performed in standup specials, hosted his own talk shows and radio segments, written books, and appeared on the Fox network.
His most recent stand up special is “Fake News, Real Jokes,” released by Comedy Dynamics in November 2018. While Miller is on tour this spring, he can be heard ranting on a twice daily on his nationally, syndicated 60-second radio feature “The Miller Minute.”
Last spring, Miller broke into Hollywood Reporter’s top 10 leading comedians list for his engagement across social media platforms, namely his Facebook and Twitter interaction.
A five-time Emmy winner for his critically acclaimed half-hour live talk show “Dennis Miller Live,” Miller had a nine-year run with the HBO show. He became a conservative favorite after sharing his post-Sept. 11 perspective in his act and for his “The O’Reilly Factor” appearances on Fox.
Miller, who describes himself as “socially liberal, fiscally conservative,” wrote and starred in eight HBO standup specials between1988-2010, including the Emmy-nominated “Raw Feed.” His four books – “I Rant Therefore I Am,” “The Rants,” “Ranting Again” and “The Rant Zone” – have all been New York Times best sellers.
Known for his scathing humor, Miller served as host and executive producer of CNBC’s “Dennis Miller,” a topical interview talk show full of opinion and humor, and a Westwood One Radio talk show, “The Dennis Miller Show.” He also appeared in such films as “Disclosure,” “The Net,” “Murder at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue” and “What Happens in Vegas,” and had a two-year stint on ABC’s “Monday Night Football.”
The Feb. 20 show starts at 8 p.m. at the Winthrop Coliseum. Ticket prices vary from $38 to $60 and can be ordered on TicketReturn.
