ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…Comic Con!
Winthrop University’s DiGiorgio Student Union (DSU) will host its inaugural comic book convention, WUCON, on Saturday, March 26, in Richardson Ballroom.
DSU has collaborated with the College of Visual and Performing Arts for this marquee event, which features a local comic book and game marketplace, student-created merchandise, artists, refreshments/food and more. Winthrop faculty members will host lectures and workshops on comic book creation and design and comic book history and culture. Winthrop students in particular will be given a free blank comic page they can take home and personalize.
Other events include: a comic design workshop; a superhero and villain costume contest; a comic book panel; and a few special guests to be determined.
The campus and local community are invited to bring their best cosplay to the event, which will run from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. The cost is $5 with a Winthrop ID; $7 for the public; and free if you have a DSU All Access Pass.
