ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - Power has been restored to campus after an early morning
outage at Winthrop University. The outage lasted from 4:30-6 a.m. The cause is unknown
at this time, but facilities management personnel are investigating.
Residual heat in residence halls helped students remain comfortable while power was
being restored.
Faculty, staff and students received news of the outage through the campus' emergency
notification system, WU Alert. They were advised that temperatures in classrooms and
buildings would be chilly in the morning hours and that they should dress warmly.
In addition, they were informed to expect full heat by noon.
