ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Winthrop University Senior Chastity Jones was awarded the President’s Award for Academic Excellence during December. The award is given to a student who has the highest GPA in the graduating class.
The Cheraw, South Carolina, resident received a business administration degree with
a concentration in finance.
Normally the President’s Award recipient is recognized at the Commencement ceremony
but due to COVID-19, the university switched to a pre-recorded ceremony. Jones received
her diploma and the award Dec. 19 at the Lois Rhame West Health, Physical Education and Wellness Center during diploma pickup.
Active in Her Campus, an online magazine for female college students, Jones tutored in the College of Business Administration resource center and was a part of the campus ministry group Reformed University Fellowship, or RUF.
Jones will start a master’s degree in accounting in fall 2021. Her goal is to become a certified public accountant.
