ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - Marianne Williamson will make a Dec. 4 campaign stop at Winthrop University as she pursues a second run for the Democratic nomination for president.
The free event will last from 6 to 8 p.m. in Dina’s Place, DiGiorgio Campus Center.
Williamson last appeared at Winthrop in October 2019 along with singer Michelle Williams and radio personality Charlamagne Tha God to talk about mental health awareness. She dropped out of the presidential race on Jan. 10, 2020, before any of the caucus or primaries were held.
The spiritualist is running again because she sees young people getting out of college and unable to afford a living. Growing up in Texas in a liberal household, Williamson was taught to pay attention to issues of social justice. A best-selling author, she describes herself as a teacher of transformational wisdom, a successful businesswoman and political activist. She previously ran as an independent to represent California’s 33rd congressional district in 2014.
Williamson is the fifth presidential candidate to visit Winthrop during this 2024 campaign cycle.
Parking for the Dec. 4 event will be behind Margaret Nance and Johnson Halls, as well as the Founders Lot on Alumni Drive.
