Two Exercise Science Majors Earn President's Award for Highest GPA

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The two recipients were Atley Livingston and Christian Peters, both exercise science majors. 
  • The award is given to students who have the highest GPA of their graduating class.

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - Winthrop University awarded two graduating seniors the President’s Award for Academic Excellence during the Dec. 17 Commencement ceremony. The award is given to students who have the highest GPA of their graduating class.

They are:

*Atley Livingston, an exercise science major from Conway, plays for the Winthrop volleyball team and served as team captain this past season. Shehas served on the executive board of both the Exercise Science Club and Phi Epsilon Kappa and as a peer tutor for athletics. She was also an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Post-graduation, she plans to take a semester off to travel, then start occupational therapy school in the upcoming academic year.

*Christian Peters, also an exercise science major, is a native of New Jersey who moved to Fort Mill during his high school years. He initially began his higher education career at York Technical College, completing the two-year personal trainer certificate and Associate of Applied Science program. He recently passed the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification on his first attempt and plans to work in human performance research.

The pair accepted their awards on the Winthrop Coliseum stage from President Edward Serna ‘02, who was presiding over his first Winthrop Commencement ceremony.
