Two Federal Judges Share Their Insights During Constitution Day Event on Sept. 18

  • Judge Timothy Cain of South Carolina and Judge Kristi DuBose of Alabama will share their insights on their years of service in the federal judicial and the American legal system.  
  • The free event lasts from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and is a cultural event for students.

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Winthrop University will address “Federal Judges and the Constitution” during a Constitution Day event on Monday, Sept. 18.

Judges from two different states will give presentations over Zoom to participants in Dina’s Place in the DiGiorgio Campus Center. The free event lasts from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and is a cultural event for students.

Judge Timothy Cain of South Carolina and Judge Kristi DuBose of Alabama will share their insights on their years of service in the federal judicial and the American legal system.  

Cain has served on the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina since 2011. Born in Seneca, South Carolina, he has worked in private practice, as an assistant county solicitor, a county attorney and as a family court judge.

Dubose assumed office in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama in 2005. Born in Brewton, Alabama, she has worked as a law clerk for a federal judge, as an assistant U.S. attorney, a deputy attorney general and as chief counsel for U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions.

For more than a decade, Winthrop has observed Constitution Day with speakers who talk about the issues of the day.

The event is sponsored by the John C. West Forum on Politics & Policy, the Departments of Mass Communication, Political Science and Philosophy, Religion & Legal Studies, as well as Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science Honor Society and the Winthrop University Honors Association.
