ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - Winthrop University recently was named to Money Magazine's "Best Colleges for Your Money 2020."

This marks the third-straight year that Money Magazine has included Winthrop in its value rankings.

To determine the rankings, the magazine analyzed more than 700 four-year colleges and universities across the nation to discover which ones provide the best value for the money. The magazine screened out those that have a below-average graduation rate, financial difficulty, or fewer than 500 students, and then ranked the 739 that remained on 27 factors in three categories: educational quality, affordability and alumni success and earnings. View the complete methodology.

Winthrop made the list of colleges and universities that made the final cut.

“It’s gratifying to be recognized by Money Magazine for the high quality of education that Winthrop offers all of its students, especially during this unprecedented and challenging time in higher education and the world,” said Interim President George Hynd. “In yet another example of how the university keeps a college education affordable and within reach to all, this summer the Board of Trustees agreed to keep our tuition at 2019-20 levels, knowing it would help financially the many families who are entrusting their students to us. Thank you to the board and our faculty and staff for their commitment to making the Winthrop experience the best it can be, no matter the circumstances.”

Over the past decade, Winthrop has consistently received third-party endorsements for its value, academic quality, diversity and sustainability efforts. Read more about these achievements.
