ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - Nearly 1,000 admitted students, their families and friends will take over campus on April 8 for Worldwide Winthrop Day!
Winthrop University's annual event celebrates new students' acceptance and shows them
what it's like to be a Winthrop Eagle. Winthrop officials will welcome everyone at
10 a.m. in Byrnes Auditorium.
The rest of the day will feature campus tours; opportunities on how to get involved
at the Student Life Showcase; a closer look at their chosen track through academic
meetings; and more.
Additional activities begin at 11 a.m., including:
Photos in the Big Red Chair
Free popcorn
Music and dancing on the Community Concourse and Campus Green
Caricature artists and face painting
Corn hole
A new addition to this year's event is the alumni panel, which will be from 1-3 p.m. in the Edge. Four young alumni will return to campus and conduct a question and answer session
for attendees.
Current students and local alumni are invited to these activities.
If visiting campus isn't an option on April 8, alumni and Eagle supporters across
the globe can still share their Winthrop pride that day by wearing Winthrop gear. Post your photos to the Winthrop University or Winthrop Alumni Facebook pages, tweet them or Instagram
them using the hashtag #WUreadytosoar.
