ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Winthrop University’s National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) chapter has earned Platinum Star Status based on its 2021-22 activities.
The designation distinguishes Winthrop’s chapter as one of the best in the nation, placing it in the top 10 out of more than 300 total chapters.
“This recognition of our chapter as a National Society of Collegiate Scholars Platinum Star Status winner is a true honor,” said Political Science Professor Michael Lipscomb, who’s also the chapter’s advisor. “This reflects the hard work of our chapter’s officers, and, in particular, the leadership of our two past-presidents, Katherine Harper ‘21 and Amelia White ‘22, who have provided outstanding leadership in rebuilding our chapter’s presence on campus.”
Winthrop’s chapter held several events throughout the academic year for its peers, including:
*A resume and career search workshop;
*An Easter egg hunt;
*A Campus Beautification Initiative (CBI) clean-up near Roddey Hall and Johnson Hall.
*A scholarship opportunities presentation; and more.
