Dear Campus Community,
I continue to be proud of our campus response in fighting the COVID-19 virus and am pleased to share with you additional vaccination opportunities. DHEC is offering two more vaccine events this semester – Wednesday, Nov. 3, and Thursday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in McBryde.
All three vaccines, including boosters, will be offered to eligible students, faculty, staff, and eligible employee (immediate household) family members, such as spouses. Please note these events are not open to the general public. Individuals need only to bring with them their vaccine cards, not insurance cards or ID. DHEC requires vaccine cards for second doses and boosters. Please plan accordingly for the 15 minute post-vaccination observation as well as potential lines.
Here are the vaccine specifics:
· Pfizer and Moderna boosters are available for anyone who completed their two dose series six months ago or more -- this includes students because our campus is an institutional setting.
· Johnson & Johnson boosters are available for anyone, including students, who received the vaccine two months ago or more.
The goal for these two clinics is to increase individual and family safety, as well as campus protection, due to increased socialization that is expected around the holidays. An additional benefit for students is not having to engage in return testing for the spring semester, provided they upload their completed/updated vaccine cards to the Patient Portal before spring semester begins.
I encourage everyone who chose to complete vaccination earlier to get a booster if they qualify. I continue to be impressed with the degree to which our campus community has taken steps to curb the virus and to keep ourselves and each other protected.
Sincerely,
George
