WHEREAS, Dr. George W. Hynd in 2020 was named Interim President of Winthrop University; and
WHEREAS, The Winthrop University Board of Trustees, with grateful appreciation, does hereby acknowledge, commend, and honor his distinguished service to Winthrop University; and
WHEREAS; Dr. Hynd led Winthrop University through the daunting challenges of COVID-19 in a calm and inspirational manner that served both the campus community and the institution, as well as the Board of Trustees; and
WHEREAS, he consistently shared thoughtful advice and counsel as he led the university in its quest for Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on College reaffirmation and development of the new “Flight Ready” Quality Enhancement Program, the implementation of the classification and compensation study results, the administrative review of the Winthrop Strategic Plan, and the Campus Master Planning Process with its associated Campus Beautification Initiative fully funded by donors; and
WHEREAS; Interim Winthrop University First Lady Dr. Alison Hynd has served alongside Interim President Hynd in numerous capacities, official and unofficial, to advance Winthrop University and to promote a community spirit among its students, faculty, and staff;
THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees of Winthrop University does hereby gratefully acknowledge the dedication to excellence that has been demonstrated by Dr. George W. Hynd;
FURTHERMORE, presents today from the Board on behalf of the entire Winthrop University community this citation as a testament to his achievements and devotion to education.
