WHEREAS, the Department of Computer Science at Winthrop University has identified a need to evolve the Digital Information Design (DIFD) program to better meet the current demands of the web development industry;
WHEREAS, the proposed B.S. in Web Development program is designed as an evolution of the existing DIFD program, with a focus on creating, developing, and maintaining web applications and sites;
WHEREAS, the introduction of the B.S. in Web Development will necessitate a new Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) code, signifying its distinct nature and focus compared to the outgoing DIFD program;
WHEREAS, the new program will enrich Winthrop University’s curriculum by offering courses that benefit majors in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Cyber Security, and provide elective options for interested students;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that on March 13, 2024, the Winthrop University Board of Trustees hereby establishes the Bachelor of Science in Web Development, phasing out the B.S. in Digital Information Design as current students complete their program.
FURTHER RESOLVED, the Secretary to the Board of Trustees shall certify that the Winthrop University Board of Trustees approved this resolution on the 13th Day of March 2024, in a regularly called meeting. Such resolution shall be maintained and publicly posted by the Secretary of the Board in a time and manner as required by law.
