WHEREAS, pursuant to S.C. Code Ann. §59–125–1, et. seq., the Board of Trustees of Winthrop University is created and established as a body corporate for the purpose of effectuating the educational mission of Winthrop University; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Winthrop Board of Trustees Bylaws art. IV(C), the Board of Trustees is empowered to define the scope of the University’s academic mission including the establishment of new academic programs to further such mission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that on February 27, 2025, the Winthrop University Board of Trustees, upon the recommendation of President Edward A. Serna, hereby establishes the following academic programs and concentrations:
Bachelor of Science in Applied Software Engineering
Bachelor of Science in Aviation and Business Management
Bachelor of Arts in Game Design
Bachelor of Science in Educational Studies, New Concentration in Youth Impact
Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, new concentrations in Pre-Law and User Experience Research
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Administration shall submit to the Commission on Higher Education any necessary documentation as required by such authority;
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Acting Secretary to the Board of Trustees shall certify that the Winthrop University Board of Trustees approved this resolution on the 27th of February, 2025, in the Board Retreat scheduled by the Winthrop University Board of Trustees. Such resolution shall be maintained and publicly posted by the Acting Secretary of the Board in a time and manner as required by law.
