The Mentor
Marla Black is a Rock Hill artist whose works have been exhibited regionally and collected internationally. Black considers her pieces conversations about the human condition. The Mentor is a concrete monolith with tenacious bird claws that sits atop a nest of granite stones. The monolith, adorned by a bronze mesh kimono, is penetrated by cast bronze birds that signify passage of knowledge.
