Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) is a national biological honors society that recognizes and encourages excellence in the field of natural science. Members of Winthrop University’s Psi Chapter have diverse interests in this field including medicine, conservation, biomedical research, and education. Chapter activities include volunteering, hosting guest speakers, organizing study sessions, and holding an annual plant sale. The national TriBeta organization publishes BIOS, a journal focused on undergraduate biology research, and it offers research grants to support undergraduate research. Anyone studying the natural world should consider joining this organization.

The Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS) at Winthrop University is committed to supporting underrepresented students pursuing careers in healthcare. Our mission statement is to offer support to Winthrop University students pursuing pre-health professions through networking, academic support, mentorship, and fostering community. As a chapter of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), MAPS provides students with knowledge and experiences essential for professional growth in the healthcare field. Our activities include graduate school visits, SNMA conferences, skill-building workshops, and panels of medical professionals. Membership is open to students with a minimum 2.75 GPA, with optional SNMA affiliation for additional benefits. All students passionate about healthcare and equity are welcome to join!
