P.N. Saksena, who goes by P.N., is serving as dean of the College of Business and Technology at Winthrop University. P.N. majored in business and earned his accounting certification (Fellow Chartered Accountant) in India where he worked for four years in public (with an affiliate of Ernst and Whinney) and private accounting.
P.N. moved to U.S.A. in 1989 to attend the University of Georgia where he completed the Master of Accountancy degree. While there he was deeply affected by the kindness and example of two faculty members who were champions for students, Dr. Ron Clark and Dr. Doug Schneider. Their example motivated him to pursue his doctorate in accounting from Georgia State University so he could play his part in helping students achieve success.
In 1995 P.N. moved to Indiana University South Bend (IU South Bend) where he served as an assistant, associate and professor of accounting till June 2017. He had the privilege of serving in a number of leadership positions there too including as chair of accounting, director of graduate studies, assistant dean, associate dean and interim dean. While at IU South Bend he also had the opportunity to teach a variety of accounting courses including financial and managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, accounting information systems, auditing and advanced auditing, forensic accounting, and consulting and strategic cost management in the undergraduate, MBA and MS in Accounting programs.
P.N.'s focus has been on teaching and interacting with students. He received over twenty teaching awards while at IU South Bend including IU South Bend Alumni Association Faculty Legacy Award, IU President's Award for Excellence in Teaching, IU South Bend Distinguished Teaching Award, Faculty of the Year Award, and [co-recipient] of the Educator of the Year Award. Additionally, he has conducted research in forensic accounting, managerial accounting and accounting education.
P.N. is most blessed because he is married to his childhood sweetheart, Monica, whom he has known since they were 12 years old. They have been life partners for over three decades and have two grown sons. The family dotes on their Havanese dog, Snowy, who enjoys running on the treadmill and going for long drives.
