Alex Tsiukes is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Winthrop University. He is a proud Winthrop alum, having completed his B.A. at Winthrop prior to earning his M.A. and Ph.D. from West Virginia University. Alex's research focuses on the intersection of urban and transportation economics. He is particularly interested in using causal inference techniques to explore the economic impacts of transportation policies. A goal of Alex's research is to inform policymakers on strategies to mitigate negative congestion externalities that arise from spatial concentration in urban areas. He has presented his research at annual meetings of the Southern Economic Association, Pennsylvania Economic Association, and APEE. Alex has also refereed for outlets such as Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice and Pennsylvania Economic Review. Alex currently lives in Rock Hill with his wife and two cats.
