ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — The John C. West Forum on Politics and Policy at Winthrop University will host the second event in the Palmetto Focus series, a discussion about the Affordable Care Act in South Carolina on Jan. 30.
The panelists will be:

Rozalynn Goodwin, vice president for engagement, S.C. Hospital Association
Morton & Gettys attorney Melissa Cassell will moderate the event. Cassell is based in the firm's Rock Hill office and focuses
on employment, transactional matters and healthcare.
President Obama's signature initiative, the Affordable Care Act, became law in 2010, but full implementation was not completed until 2015. Now Congress
is discussing dismantling and replacing the healthcare plan.
The West Forum will host the "The Affordable Care Act" event to discuss the impact of the Act on South Carolina, including benefits and shortfalls,
and consider what the replacement may be. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Dina's Place in the DiGiorgio Campus Center. There will be a question and answer period during the event.

This is the second of three sessions called "Palmetto Focus: A Series on the Issues in South Carolina." An earlier session in November focused on Act 388, while the third and last session
this spring will concentrate on race-related issues in South Carolina.
The West Forum is committed to promoting civic engagement and raising issues important to South
Carolinians. The Palmetto Focus series is a venue for South Carolinians to hear about important issues to our state and
to ask questions to further the conversation, said West Forum Co-Director Katarina Moyon.
