Leon Williams of Facilities Management Passes Away on Aug. 4

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Leon Williams, an HVAC technician who worked at Winthrop University for 22 years, died on Sunday, Aug. 4, after suffering complications from a short illness.

He was 59.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. at Neely’s Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 974 Neely’s Creek Road, Rock Hill, S.C. The family will receive friends afterwards in the church.

Known for his sense of humor, Williams would keep his friends and coworkers laughing and smiling throughout the day, according to James Grigg, associate vice president for facilities management. Williams also will be remembered for his kind heart as he was willing to go out of his way to help others when in need whether at work or on his personal time. 

“Leon will be greatly missed by the facilities management team and all those who were fortunate enough to know him,” Grigg said.

A Rock Hill High School graduate, he studied at York Technical College and enjoyed playing the drums in local bands.
