ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA—Winthrop University will welcome students back to campus this fall with an exciting lineup of performances, parties and play.
The DiGiorgio Student Union (DSU)’s Welcome Week will be Aug. 17-24 and includes the treasured Convocation picnic tradition. Unless otherwise noted, events are $5 for students, $7 to the public or free with the purchase of a DSU Welcome Week pass.

Saturday, Aug. 17
Bollywood Fever
8 p.m., Tillman Auditorium
The Bollywood Touch troupe travels the globe, showing off various South Asian dances
including Fusion, Raas, Garba, Bhangra and more.
Sunday, Aug. 18
Paint U
8-11 p.m., President’s Circle
Hang out at this epic paint party featuring high-energy music, non-toxic paint and
tons of adrenaline. Bring a white T-shirt and join your peers for this one-of-a-kind
event.
Monday, Aug. 19
Convocation – FREE
11 a.m., Winthrop Coliseum
For the first time, Winthrop’s annual Convocation tradition will take place at the
Coliseum. Hear encouraging words from Jay Karen ’96, and then head out to the picnic. Churches, civic organizations and student groups
will provide information on opportunities to get involved on campus and in the community.
You can also create your own name art and personalized cell phone stand.
Tuesday Aug. 20
Hypnotist Chris Jones
8 p.m., Tillman Auditorium
One of the newest and most energetic performers on the college market, Chris Jones
promises an insane and incredibly interactive hypnosis show.
Wednesday, Aug. 21
DSU Presents: WU Hacks - FREE
8 p.m., Tillman Auditorium
Want to learn more about the ins and outs of Winthrop? Check out this panel event
featuring Winthrop students, faculty and staff sharing information on student life,
safety, campus living and other important topics.
Thursday, Aug. 22
Levi Stephens Live
8 p.m., Amphitheatre
Multitalented singer/songwriter Levi Stephens will display his sultry vocals and
unique genre mixture at this performance.
Friday, Aug. 23
West Fest
9 p.m., West Center
This collaboration between DSU and Recreational Services will feature games, activities
and events, including yoga classes, minute-to-win-it games and much more.
Saturday, Aug. 24
Eagle Flicks: Avengers: Endgame
7 p.m., Dina’s Place
Chill out at the movies with “Avengers: Endgame,” the epic conclusion to the Marvel/Disney
saga.
