Winthrop Artists Take Multiple Awards at the 35th Annual Juried Competition Awards

HIGHLIGHTS

  • All top winners were Winthrop alumni
  • Each year, the Annual Juried Competition is open internationally to artists 18 and older for original work created within the last two years.

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Winthrop University fine arts alumni took a clean sweep of the awards at the Arts Council of York County’s 35th Annual Juried Competition Exhibition at the Center for the Arts, located at 121 E. Main Street in downtown Rock Hill.

Winners were announced at an Aug. 22 reception. They are:

1st Place: crying at the nail salon (I’m so sick of online love) by Maddie Foss ’24

About the Competition

Each year, the Annual Juried Competition is open internationally to artists 18 and older. Only original work, created in the last two years and not previously shown at the Center for the Arts, Dalton Gallery, is accepted. All forms of media are eligible, including video.
 
This year, there were 204 entries by 84 artists from 30 cities and four states. Of those entries, juror Rebecca Forstater selected 35 works by 29 artists from 16 cities and four states to be displayed in the 35th Annual Juried Competition exhibition in the Dalton Gallery at the Center for the Arts.
