Dear Friends:

I am excited to share with you the fall edition of the Winthrop Magazine. In these pages you’ll read about our first 12 initiatives that we’re undertaking as part of our strategic plan, Winthrop: United in Excellence, and there’s also an in-depth profile on the history and transformation of the Morgan-Holcombe Alumni Center at the Stewart House. If you’re on campus for Homecoming and Reunion, Nov. 4-9, I hope you’ll drop in and see the new alumni center for yourself.

I also want to encourage you to read about other interesting features in this edition, including:

• The 50^th anniversary of coeducation;
• Compelling profiles on David ’97 and Courtney Peek ’99, former student-athletes who instilled a love for Winthrop in their children, and Kelly Turney ’08, head athletic trainer with the Orlando Pride professional women’s soccer team; and
