Let’s Kick Back and Celebrate!
As you likely saw in your inbox from your respective faculty or staff conference leadership, there’s a fun time brewing for later this afternoon at Middle James, home of the official Winthrop Pale Ale. It’s billed as a social and a time to relax and unwind…but I’d like to suggest we also celebrate some accomplishments relative to this 2023-34 academic year.
You have undoubtedly seen the graphic below at some point this year, and while it’s served us well, we are retiring it after this semester. One of the VPs jokingly called it the “Carousel of Progress;” another labeled it simply, “The Wheel.” While we worked this year on the substance of the strategic plan, this graphic and its important points kept us grounded in the hard work that, along with the finalized strategic plan, sets us up for future success. Some of the items on the wheel have only just begun, while others are a solid check off; all have seen movement, and that’s a great thing!
I want to acknowledge and thank everyone who had a hand in any of the initiatives you see here. This year’s work was a tough assignment by all accounts, yet you performed exceptionally well. The progress we have made together is worth so much more than a raised glass, but let’s raise one anyway!
I hope to see all of you this afternoon (location and other details below) and please know this year’s accomplishments would not have been possible without the willingness of the entire campus community to embrace this vital work. Thank you!
