Announcing our Tuition Transparency Initiative
Thank you for being a valued member of the Winthrop community. We appreciate your dedication to our university and know that you have a vested interest in the success of our students and institution. Today, we come to you with an open invitation to be part of our future!
We understand the concerns many have about the rising cost of higher education, especially in today's economic climate. That's why we've been proactive in ensuring that our tuition and fees reflect our commitment to both quality and affordability. Since 2020, with funding support from state and federal sources, we've held our tuition steady so that the exceptional value of a Winthrop University degree remains accessible. This decision wasn't just about economics; it was about our unwavering commitment to our students, families, and the broader community.
Today we launch Winthrop’s Tuition Transparency Initiative for the 2023-2024 academic year. Our goal? To implement a new tuition and fees structure by Fall 2024 that aligns our tuition with peer institutions and clarifies our direct cost and out-of-pocket expenses.
We can’t do this without you! Here’s how you can partner with us to share your thoughts, ideas, and feedback:
1. Participate in Upcoming Campus Forums. From now through next year, we will host sessions for students, faculty, and staff to discuss the Tuition Transparency Initiative, gather your invaluable feedback, and answer questions.
2. Stay Current with Initiative News and Next Steps. The Tuition Transparency Initiative webpage will be your one-stop-shop for updates about the study, dates and information about upcoming campus forums, access to FAQs, and information on next steps. Also, check your email often for upcoming, regular communication from us via campus email and Wingspan.
Questions? Email tuitiontransparency@winthrop.edu. We are excited for you to come on this journey with us as we, collectively, become pioneers in the national dialogue about college accessibility, affordability, and student success!
