Internships have become increasingly important for student success. Due to the Department of Accounting, Finance, and Economics' relationships with the region's business community, internships are both available and encouraged. The College of Business and Technology has a Director of Professional Opportunities whose duties consist of placing students in internships.
Students have the opportunity to participate in an accounting internship. The internships are offered in the areas of public accounting, merchandising, manufacturing, and service entities, not-for-profit entities, and local, state, and federal government agencies. Internships are offered all over the United States as well as internationally. Internships are intended to help place the student on the path to permanent placement with their internship employer. More than 90 percent of interns receive offers of permanent employment!
