The Accounting, Finance, and Economics Department prepares students for careers in fields with high demand and extraordinary earning potential. Winthrop’s location near Charlotte, NC, the second largest financial hub in the country, provides our students with phenomenal professional opportunities. Our students develop technical, analytical, leadership, and business communication skills through rigorous coursework, practical experiences, and involvement with student organizations. The department consists of 15 faculty members who are dedicated to teaching and research excellence. Fourteen of our faculty hold doctoral degrees and many hold professional certifications and have extensive industry experience in their areas of expertise. The department distinguishes itself through its strong placement record with some of the top accounting, banking, and finance firms in the world and by providing opportunities to obtain scholarships, engage in experiential learning, and participate in specialized career fairs and networking events.
