How to Apply

The Schwab Foundation Financial Planning Development Program accepts up to 15 students per academic year.

Students must meet the following standards to be admitted into the program:

  1. Admission into Winthrop University
  2. Major in Business Administration with a concentration in Financial Planning.
  3. History of active participation in academic and non-academic extra-curricular activities
  4. Specific GPA and testing or course requirements
    • Freshman Students:
      • ≥3.0 high school GPA
      • Score at least a 500 on the MATH-SAT or 18 on MATH-ACT
    • Current Winthrop Students:
      • Completed at least one semester at Winthrop
      • ≥3.3 Cumulative GPA
      • No lower than a B- in Accounting courses
    • Transfer Students:
      • ≥3.5 Cumulative GPA or 3.3 GPA with B average in all quantitative courses
      • No lower than a B- in Accounting courses

Applications are now being accepted. Once 15 students have been accepted into the program, other qualified candidates are placed on a waiting list.
