Jane B. Doss graduated from Winthrop College in 1954 with a BS in Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. She continued her education at Jacksonville State University completing an MS in Physical Education in 1968. She has taught at Cassie Elementary, Morton Jr. High, Thornwood Prep School and Shorter and Berry College. She is an Emeritus faculty member of Berry College and the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
Professor Doss is the author of numerous card files, articles, booklets, and books in the areas of dance, games, and camp activities. She has served the Georgia AHPERD as President, VP of Recreation, VP of Dance, Student Advisor, Workshop Chair, District Chair, and Dance section chair. At the District AHPERD level, she has been VP for Dance, Chair of the Dance Section, Secretary of Physical Education Section, and VP of Recreation, along with making numerous presentations. At the national level, she has served on the Honor Awards Committee, Heritage Committee for NDA, and chaired The Southern District Relations Committee. She has presented as two President-elect conferences for Southern District.
Throughout her career, Jane Doss has been active in the camping movement. She has served as Camp Director for Camp WinShape for Girls at Berry College. She was active in Project Adventure workshops and has provided in-service training for YMCA and private camp staffs. She has been active in the America Camping Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and was named to Who's Who in American Women, in the U.Ss, England, and in Education. In her spare time, she is mom to sons Jamie, Jerry, and Jeffrey.
