Initiated in 2000, the program honors Winthrop University's distinguished alumni in
physical education. For Winthrop's 105 year history, physical education has played
an integral role in campus life. In 1920, the first physical education majors graduation,
more than 1000 students have graduated in physical education and represented their
alma mater in varied fields. Their service has spanned the United States and a number
of foreign countries.
It is with great pride that Winthrop was able to establish this program to recognize
graduates who have brought honor to the University, the Richard W. Riley College of
Education, Sport, and Human Sciences, and the Department of Physical Education, Sport
and Human Performance.
