Krista "Kasey" Johnson graduated from Winthrop University in 1996 with a degree in physical education. She received a MA degree in education from Arizona State University in 1974. After completing her graduate degree, she began her full time career as a military wife and mother for the next 29 years. While moving on average of every two years, she still found time to be involved with the Red Cross as a case worker, chairperson and advisor in the Military Wives Club, serve on the Scholarship Committee, the Family Support Center, and for the Thrift Shop. She has organized and taught a cultural orientation program for high school age students of foreign military officers from eighteen different countries.
She has worn a number of different hats while living in various parts of the country and overseas. She has taught in Lowndes County Schools in Virginia, Valdosta Schools in Georgia, and the Mesa City Schools in Arizona. She earned her real estate license in Virginia and worked for Sorenson Construction Company and Pulte Homes. She just recently retired from Talbots as a sales associate. No matter where she traveled, she remained active with the Winthrop Alumni Association Board, where she is currently serving as President. She is the proud mother of Greer and Jay and will be a first time grandmother in August.
