Mark Sexton graduated from Winthrop University in 1994 with a BS in Physical Education with an emphasis in Leisure services. While at Winthrop, he played varsity baseball for four years and served as captain his senior year. He was the recipient of the Rock Hill Orthopedic Leadership Award in Athletics in 1994. After graduating in 1994, he began as a part-time seasonal worker with the Rock Hill Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department.
By 1998, his duties for Rock Hill Parks, Recreation, and Tourism included the supervision of all youth and adult athletic programs for the Cherry Park facility. In 2002, he moved to Florence, SC to become the Recreation Superintendent to oversee and manage the consolidation of recreational services between the city and the county. He returned to Rock Hill in 2003 to take his current position as Supervisor for the Administrative and Tourism Division for Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. In this role he coordinates marketing, sports tourism, budgeting, and the Rock Hill Parks Foundation.
Mark is active in the South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association and received the Young Professional of the Year Award in 2002. He has served on the Board and chaired the Awards and Citation Committee. He has also served as the Festival Chair for the Come-See-Me event and is the current President of the Come-See-Me Board. Mark is the proud father of Emma, Sarah, and Elizabeth and husband to Trish.
