Dr. Jennifer Bossi Wetzel is a dedicated educator with a passion for student success both in and out of the classroom. With nine years of college teaching experience, she specializes in courses related to exercise physiology and exercise prescription. In addition to her teaching role at Winthrop, Dr. Wetzel is a certified athletic trainer and has worked with athletes at both the high school and collegiate levels. She is also a certified exercise physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine and a group fitness instructor, with teaching experience in both yoga and indoor cycling.
Dr. Wetzel has contributed to the field through numerous presentations at state and national conferences and has published in peer-reviewed journals such as the North Carolina Journal for Physical Education and Athletics and the Journal of Contemporary Athletics. Her research interests focus on female physiology, endurance running performance, and exercise science pedagogy.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Wetzel enjoys hiking, running, and spending quality time with her family. She is currently working on the 50 State Race Challenge and has completed a half marathon in 18 different states.
