Dr. Burnham has been in the educational field for over 35 years. She began her career teaching at elementary schools in several states for over a decade. After completing her master's degree, she founded and directed a learning center that emphasized differentiated instruction for students struggling in K-12 and post-secondary schools. In returning to her home state of South Carolina in 2002, Dr. Burnham began teaching and supervising at Winthrop University. Courses she has taught include the areas of educational core, elementary methods, reflective practice, and supervision of interns. Her research interests focus on student at risk populations, teacher development and supervision, and motivational psychology.
